The first Australian Sociocracy training workshops were held in Perth in September 2007. The training was given by US consultant Tena Meadows O'Rear, and the program was put together by Gina Price and Liz Dare, as the working party for the Australasia Training Circle for Sociocracy.

Two-day Introductory Workshops and an additional Advanced Level Training were attended by 50 people in total. One small business trained all their staff and is practising using the method in their business. Other individuals have been trialling aspects of the method in various groups and organisations.

In May 2008, training was given by Tena and Gina, on the east coast of Australia to individuals from two different ecovillage communities. Later in May an Introductory Workshop was given at Parliament House, Canberra, as part of the 2008 Business Leaders Forum on Sustainability.

In April 2008, Tena and Gina attended Sociocratic gatherings in Rotterdam, Netherlands, to learn more about the Dutch experience of developing and practising Sociocracy, and to share their experiences of training in Australia. Gina was awarded certification as a Sociocratic Trainer by Sociocratisch Centrum.

In July 2008, Tena and Gina gave an Introductory Workshop at the Friends General Conference in Pennsylvania, and in September , Gina presented two introductory evenings and gave her first solo training in Fairbanks, Alaska. For training enquiries click here.
