In 1981, while working in a silver coating factory in Sydney, Gina Price decided she wanted something more from her life.....she wanted to go to Antarctica. After three years and an honours degree in Physics, she was on her way to spend a year at Mawson Base as one of the first female scientists to over-winter on an Australian Antarctic Base. This work lead to a PhD in Upper Atmosphere Physics, work at the University of Alaska, and ultimately the material which forms the basis of the book 'Frost Bytes'. |

In 2005, while working with the an ecovillage project near Perth, Gina heard about Sociocracy,.... and started to learn about how this governance model could be used to efficiently organise people in an egalitarian manner. Three years later she was on her way to the Netherlands to become the first certified trainer in Sociocracy in Australia. |

The 1985 Auster Emperor Penguin rookery....showing how they organise. |
On her journey from an Antarctic base to a new model for organising ourselves, Gina has developed a passion for finding ways for groups to work together. Sociocracy invites participation, inspires leadership and allows an organisation to flourish in a changing environment. Ultimately it can throw light on today's big issues, whether it be climate change, water management or the energy crisis. |
